Writing And Trembling Together - Meet The Unknowable Unknown At 1:00 Today
Writers Daily Dive is a co-writing space online. We meet and keep our screens on as we write. Its a bit weird, but you will feel better. Perhaps even liberated. But definitely relieved of the dread.
Jeannine Ouellette, an outstanding Substack writer/teacher who publishes a newsletter called, Writing In The Dark, talks about the fear inherent in art-making in a post this week:
“…I have long felt that when we make art, we must experience something that is, I think, a kind of trembling…It’s a trembling inside of us that is, yes, like love, and it emerges as a result of our touching the veil between one thing and another, a veil that opens into an unknowable unknown that we can only sense, never see, and that thrums through us as we work, that owns a part of us. We have no genuine control over this unknowable unknown and we never will. Even when we are having fun with the fiction (and we do have fun, we often do, and what a paradox that is!), we are simultaneously out of control and vulnerable to what we cannot name.”
You are invited to our Writers Daily Dive on Zoom, where we are practicing serious self-compassion by showing up even on dark days. But you can also paint, or stare into Zoom space.
Join us for one hour of focus during the chaos of the day. We meet on Zoom at 1:00 pm, EST. We leave our cameras on so it feels less lonely. We wrap up at 2:00. Those who are onto something just continue writing. Those who want to check in can chat.

Because winds howl, mountains are treacherous, demons snarl and show their fangs. Books are repositories of lives, and the only thing that outlasts time. We need a sturdy book-ship for travel into true territory. A ship-shaped-book for resurrection, magic, truth, transformation.
A subscription gets you a week of the Writers Daily Dive. After that you can upgrade to $10 bucks a month.
If you can’t make it in the middle of the day, please send this to someone who might need just this push.
We also have a running writers group that has been meeting in East Hampton for 9 years! we now meet on Zoom. It’s called the Writers Collective Out East. A subscription entitles you to a free Zoom meeting where we write in-group and then give feedback to members on their submitted pieces of writing. We meet every Wednesday at 6:30 PM EST.
