Damn, its hard to consistently show up for myself and my book. There is always something more pressing. The urgent pushes the necessary into a corner. But it’s the necessary few lines going down into a white space that makes any of it worthwhile. I can let it slide for a day or two, but I start to feel really off base. Then I feel lost. I don’t realize it’s happening until I am hopeless.

This is our thing. The way writers make sense and meaning out of our lives. And it happens in increments. If we wait for the day when the urgent has all been finally taken care of, our lives go by. The desk is never going to be cleared, and the bills are always going to need to be paid. I’m beginning to love reality more than fantasy. So I’m showing up for the date with my muse.

Because winds howl, mountains are treacherous, demons snarl and show their fangs. Books are repositories of lives, the only thing that outlasts time. We need a sturdy book for travel into true territory. For resurrection, magic, truth, transformation.

We meet weekdays at 1:00 PM, EST; 10:00 AM, PST. We’re calling it WRITERS DAILY DIVE. We write for an hour in companionable silence. It’s strange how comforting it is to show up and see other writers writing. Who knew?
